WAQF FUND
Health Waqf Fund
The advancement of modern medicine, particularly in the intervention and treatment of cancer patients, has evolved to the gene level with the development of a targeted gene drug therapeutic regime. The outcome of the treatment has been proven to increase the chances of patient survival and cure. However, this new treatment requires preliminary laboratory molecular tests before and, in some cases, also after the treatment regimen is administered. Molecular laboratory tests require sufficient funding because the medical laboratory equipment used is relatively expensive to conduct tests on patients, and the existing funds are limited and insufficient. With these limited funds, many eligible patients who may benefit from this treatment are forced to opt for conventional treatment methods because molecular tests cannot be conducted. Therefore, financial assistance to cover the costs of equipment for these molecular tests is crucial.
The establishment of a Health Waqf Fund specifically for this purpose will benefit cancer patients undergoing treatment at Sarawak General Hospital and UNIMAS Teaching Hospital. This facility also aims to serve the purposes of teaching, learning, and research for university medical students. Furthermore, this waqf fund will also expand its functions to cover molecular tests for other treatments and diagnostics. You are part of many patients’ new hope. Be part of our philanthropists.
East Campus Mosque Fund
A Landmark of Faith & Community
The East Campus Mosque stands as UNIMAS' first waqf project, completed just in time for Ramadhan 2019—a moment of spiritual significance. Since then, it has served as a place of worship and community gathering for over 1,500 campus residents, including Pre-University students, PALAPES and SUKSIS personnel, university staff, and the surrounding community. More than just a mosque, it is a symbol of unity, faith, and shared purpose within and beyond UNIMAS.
Yusuf Marais Waqf Examination Hall
The extensive Examination Hall is required to accommodate over 15,000 UNIMAS students and an increase in the number each year to carry out seminar, teaching and learning activities. Moreover, it is necessary to overcome the problem of space constraints during the examination season. UNIMAS always strives to ensure the conducive spaces for students for teaching and learning activities as well as examinations in order to produce qualified and competitive graduates in fulfilling the needs of the industry.
Centre for IT Development and Services
CITDS waqf building is required to accommodate the indispensable space due to the less conducive condition of the existing space for CITDS in Centre for Academic Information Services (CAIS). Within the building, there will be a conducive space for repairing ICT equipment, space for intensive project development or the provision of simulation and prototyping, and a dedicated space for Data Center used to house computer systems and associated components such as telecommunications and storage systems. It is so important when an application involves down-time. This building will definitely boost the effectiveness of operations involving ICT in UNIMAS for the benefit of public and the state.
